The Practices Of The Heart Part Vi - The Practice Of Authentic Self-expression

Every day, I strive to express a true and full range of who I am, what I see, what I feel, and what I know. Before I go to bed, I look back on the day to see if I was true to myself, my values, and my beliefs. When all else is stripped away—my work, my image, my actions—I am left with me. This simple fact reminds me to be consistent with my true self and follow through with what is in my heart. The practice of authentic self-expression stems from knowing who you are and how you wish to operate in the world.

Organizing Your Life - Clearing Up The Paper Mess

A few days ago I had to stop by my local college’s library for a research book for a project I have at work. I needed to talk to a librarian who was not on the main floor of the library, but who had an office on the 3rd floor. When I rounded the corner to enter her office, I was sort of stunned. Focus - Your Power To Create

Unfortunately the majority of people on our lavish little green planet are not happy with their ‘lot’ in life. They are living lives of quiet desperation, unsatisfied with their relationships, careers or finances.

What is the main reason for this dissatisfaction? The main reason I believe this is so is due to a lack of understanding about the nature of our universe which can be directly linked to our belief conditioning from childhood.

As a child we begin to replicate the conditioning of our parents. A person’s beliefs and values are often passed from generation to generation until someone down the generations either has a life-changing experience or consciously reorganises or changes their belief system.

Head-in-the-sand-itis - The New Epidemic

Here’s a conversation I’ve had many times in the course of my work.

“Okay Mrs Smith.. jump on the scales and let’s see what you weigh…”
(A look of terror appears on her face).
“Aaah.. do I have to?”
“Well, I need to collect some base-line data before we start your program and this is part of that process..”
(Mrs Smith.. deep in thought, mind racing)
“Hmm, er, okay… but don’t tell me what they say.”
“What who says?”
“The scales!”
“But you weigh… what you weigh… not knowing your weight doesn’t make you lighter or healthier..”
“Yeh, but it will depress me if I know.”
“But maybe that knowledge (truth) will jolt you into reality and change.”
“No thanks.”
